PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES

God will bend near and engage with us in much the same way a child or friend engages when they know they are being acknowledged, respected, and heard. Sit quietly before starting this prayer and invite God to be a part of the conversation. Let Him know we want this time we spend with Him to be a relationship-building experience. Communication with God, like all successful dialogue, is a two-way street. Pause to hear what He has to say to us today. Then, pray this prayer with me.

I come humbly to Your throne of grace today Father, with praise and thanksgiving on my lips. You are a faithful, loving, and forgiving Father, more than any earthly father could ever be. I am never alone nor do I have anything to fear because You are always with me. You will never leave me, my Abba Father. I thank You and bless Your Holy name today and forevermore. John 5:19, NIVDeuteronomy 31:6

Show Your kindness to Your servant today, Lord, as You did in generations past, and as You will in generations to come. I put my trust in You alone, Oh Ancient of Days. Give me discernment this coming year so I can choose right from wrong, good from evil. I ask not for wealth or power, for they will only corrupt my desires. Give me each day, everything I need to do Your will, Jehovah Jireh. Help me to pray for my enemies and forgive all who hurt me, for I know that what the enemy means for evil, You will use for good. May I be a blessing to all I meet over the coming months, Lord, and may I honor You in all I do. May Your love flow through me to others and may souls be saved, in Your Name and for Your glory. 1 Kings 3:5–14Genesis 50:20

I commit to follow You, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who set the example of how I am to live when You walked among us. You now sit at the right hand of our Father in Heaven and watch over us, God’s children, until the day You come again. I bow to You as my Savior, my Protector, my Supplier, my Healer, my All-in-all. May my testimony work to help others also choose to submit their lives to You, to be saved and redeemed, as I have been. May names be added to the Lambs Book of Life this coming year, Lord. In Your Holy and Precious Name, I pray. Amen. John 8:12–19
